Between July 2016 and June 2022, the number of tāngata whai ora secluded at Te Toka Tumai Auckland’s adult inpatient mental health services decreased by 67 percent. This focus on seclusion reduction is only one feature of a long-term commitment to the delivery of a model of care that is more person-centred.
